My scientific interests involve building an understanding of genome and virus evolution, including the co-evolution of viruses and their hosts. I am also interested in zoonotic viral diseases, their epidemiology and immunology standing behind their success or failure during infection, particularly in bats, who are known to be one of the major sources of viral infections spread amongst humans and other animals.

For my doctoral research, I am interested in the investigation of virus-like genes in bat genomes, especially in cases of fixation and preservation of viral sequences in the host population or in scenarios where the host uses such sequences during subsequent viral infections as a restriction factor and an EVE-derived immunity (EDIs). During the course of my research I plan to use both my laboratory experience and in silico methods in my research.
